Ultimately, the Toreros buckled down in the closing moments to secure the set win, 25-20.
- Moving into set two, USF tested San Diego again, this time pulling in front, 15-14, after an attack error from the Toreros. Trading points down the stretch, USD used the strength of a 3-0 scoring run to lock down the victory in set two, 26-24.
