OMAHA, Nebraska- Recording their first road victory of the season on Tuesday evening, the University of San Francisco men's soccer team (2-7-1, 0-1-1) got back in the win column in style against Omaha (4-7-1, 2-1-0) after shutting the Mavericks out, 1-0, at Caniglia Field.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- Despite two shots from the Mavericks to open the contest, Gabriel Bracken Serra fired the first attempt for the Dons offensively at the 20:05 mark.
- Exchanging possessions in the minutes to follow, Ferdy Ghafury would find Bracken Serra for his second goal of the season at 39:53 to give USF the early 1-0 advantage, which ultimately proved to be the game-winner.
- Following one final shot from Omaha's Hugo Kametani to close out the half, the Dons rode their early momentum to take a 1-0 lead into the locker room at the break.
- Out of halftime, the two teams matched shots to begin play, which included another attack from Bracken Serra as well as a shot on goal from Kevyn Lo.
- Aiming to defend their home field, the Mavericks would outshoot USF 9-3 overall in the second half, but the Dons defense would hold strong as the back line and goalkeeper Brandon Keniston kept Omaha off the board following each attempt. Digging deep when it mattered most, USF buckled down in the final minutes to secure the 1-0 victory and notch their first road win of the fall and first shutout of the 2021 season.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- For Bracken Serra, the Berkeley native is now tied with Shayan Charalaghi for second on the team in goals with two. Impressing in his first year on The Hilltop, Ghafury is now tied with Dominic Valdivia for the team lead in assists with two.
- In the cage, Keniston logged his first shutout as a Don as he tallied five saves for the second consecutive match and the third time in his four appearances this fall.
- Notably, Tuesday's shutout of the Mavericks marked USF's first since Mar. 21 of last spring in a 1-0 home victory over Pacific.Â
CATCHING UP WITH COACH BROWN:
"I am thrilled with the effort and attitude of this whole team. This was a gritty result on the road against a team that was in the NCAA tournament last spring.  A lot of guys stepped up and played a lot of minutes to contribute to a great team win. We are focused on recovering and we will be ready for Gonzaga on Saturday."
