SAN FRANCISCO – The University of San Francisco women's soccer team had their chances to earn a result against visiting Portland but could not find the back of the net.  The Dons and Pilots settled for a 0-0 draw in Saturday afternoon at Negoesco Stadium.
 
USF (1-2-2, 0-2-1 WCC) finished with 17 shots on the day, four on goal – none potentially bigger than the shot by sophomore Jameson Ward just prior to the end of regulation when Ward had a wide-open look at the net but pushed the shot just wide.
 
USF outshot the Pilots 10-4 in the second half, the Dons also boasted a 8-4 advantage on corner kicks.
 
Portland (2-2-1, 1-2-1 WCC) finished with 11 shots and four on target, their best look at goal came just prior to the end of the first overtime when Jamie Rita put a header that was knocked away to safety at the last second by keeper Molly Eby.
 
Eby (1-2-2) finished the afternoon with four saves on the day, her counterpart Madison Zamora (1-0-1) also finished with four saves, three coming after the intermission. The two defenses were very stout and did not allow for much breathing room by either team's attacking players.
 
Freshman Jayd Sprague had a solid afternoon; she took three shots with two on goal.  Sydney Cooper had four shots with one on goal and Catherine Hill had a shot on goal for the Dons.
 
The Dons run their unbeaten streak to three-straight matches – a series best for USF.
 
USF will return to action on Tuesday when they host Gonzaga at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday's game is a makeup game for the contest that was postponed on February 20^th. Tuesday's game will be streamed live on the WCC Network.
