MORAGA, Calif. — The University of San Francisco men's tennis team fell Friday at Saint Mary's, with the Gaels taking a 4-1 West Coast Conference decision at the Korth Tennis Complex.
The Dons (5-6, 0-3 WCC) got a singles win from Phuc Huynh at the No. 4 spot, where he beat SMC's Boris Reckow, 6-4, 6-3. Saint Mary's earned the doubles point with a deciding No. 1 doubles victory. San Francisco had evened the doubles competition with a win from Johan Garpered and Nitzan Ricklis at the No. 3 spot, but James Watt and Reckow took down Paul Giraud and Ori Maior, 6-3, to put the Gaels up 1-0 early.
Saint Mary's then got singles wins at No. 5, No. 1 and No. 3 to earn the team win. Both Ricklis (No. 1 singles) and Maior (No. 3) took their singles matches to three sets.
San Francisco next hosts Portland on Friday and Gonzaga on Saturday. Both matches will be played at the Cal Club.
