Dons Can't Get Rolling in Loss to No. 16 BYU

PROVO, Utah -- Coming into Saturday afternoon's game against the No. 16 BYU Cougars (18-1, 8-0), the USF Dons (10-11, 4-5) knew they would have their work cut out for them against the standings leader in the WCC. The Cougars came to play in front of their hometown as they left Marriott Center with the 99-58 victory over the Dons.

Kennedy Dickie led the way for USF as she scored a team-high 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Dons. Ioanna Krimili scored 15 points for USF as the team's second leading scorer on Saturday afternoon.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
  • BYU got off to a fast start on their home floor as they were able to build a double digit advantage and a 28-13 lead after the first 10 minutes of play.
  • The Cougars continued their tremendous shooting as they shot 69% from beyond the arc in the first half of play to take a 53-33 lead into the locker room.
  • USF worked hard to get back into the contest early in the second half but couldn't keep the hard charging BYU attack down for long as they built their lead to 75-47 after three quarters.
  • The Cougars and Dons both emptied the benches midway through the fourth quarter as BYU came away with the 99-58 victory on Saturday.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
  • Dickie had another strong game as she continues to build off her strong conference season. She finished with 17 points and went 5-for-8 from three point range against the Cougars.
  • Krimili worked through a tenacious effort from BYU to limit her productivity as she scored 15 points going 2-for-4 from three point range and making 7-of-7 free throws.
  • Making her first start of the season, Jasmine Gayles scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds for USF.
UP NEXT:
The Dons will now return home for a two-game home stand starting with a Thursday evening matchup against the San Diego Toreros (10-10, 2-5) at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center. USD knocked off USF at home 65-56 earlier in conference play and have now lost five of their last six games since.
