SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- As one week has come and gone in the 2022-23 college basketball season, the USF Dons women's basketball team is back to work this week at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center as they will host the Troy Trojans (2-1) on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 6:00 p.m. before welcoming the USC Trojans (2-0) to the Hilltop on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 2:00 p.m.Â
USF received a mixed bag of results in their first week of action as they were able to knock off Cal State East Bay in the season opener, before falling just short in a hard fought battle at home against Washington State.
Jasmine Gayles had a tremendous performance in the Dons' opener as she recorded a 23 point and 11 rebound double-double for the second double-double of her collegiate career.
Kennedy Dickie also had a strong impact in both games as she averaged 13.5 points and 9.5 rebounds to start her season.

DONS AT A GLANCE:
- Returning to action this season with an experienced and slightly revamped roster, the Dons split their opening week of games by gliding past Cal State East Bay thanks to a strong second half before fighting hard and ultimately falling short against Washington State to end the week.
- USF currently boasts three scorers so far that are averaging double digit points with Ioanna Krimili (14.5 PPG), Dickie (13.5 PPG) and Gayles (11.5 PPG) as the three Dons have been on the attack early on this season.
- The Dons' defense has been on point through the first two games of the 2021-22 season as USF has held their opponents to a 36.6% field goal percentage and they've done a great job of limiting their opponents from deep as Cal State East Bay and Washington State were held to 23.3% from three-point range.Â
- After struggling at times last season with rebounding as a team, USF as held their own through the first two games of the season as they have an even rebounding margin averaging 44 per game and breaking even against Washington State who has many post players that are known for their ability to clean the glass.
SCOUTING TROY:
- The Trojans from Alabama have posted a 2-1 record so far this season as they've picked up victories over Samford and UT Martin on the road before coming up short in Westwood against UCLA on Monday by a 95-83 score.
- Troy has been led this season by three scorers averaging at least 12 points per game in the early part of the season, including junior guard Makayia Hallmon who has averaged 12.7 PPG this season on 34% shooting from the field to go along with four steals and two blocks so far this season.
- Entering the 2022-23 season, Troy was picked to finish at the top of the Sun Belt Conference as they received 12 of 13 first place votes and senior forward Felmas Koranga was picked as the conference's Preseason Player of the Year.
SCOUTING USC:
- USC enters the Hilltop with a 2-0 record as they will take on fellow WCC opponent San Diego tonight in the first of two road games this week as they've already defeated CSU Bakersfield and Idaho State at home.
- Leading the way so far for the Trojans on the offensive side of the ball is graduate student guard Destiny Littleton who's averaged 16 PPG this season including knocking down 5-of-9 three point attempts in her team's win over Idaho State.
- Providing a spark off the bench early on this season, sophomore guard Bella Perkins has averaged 13.5 PPG this season while scoring at a highly efficient level this season going 9-for-13 from the field to shoot a red hot 69.2% from the field through the early part of the season.Â
SERIES HISTORY:
- Wednesday evening's matchup with Troy will be the first time the Dons and Tigers have faced off in each program's history.Â
- Saturday afternoon's matchup with be a rematch from last season's battle at the Galen Center where the Dons came away with a comeback 78-63 victory in Los Angeles as Krimili had a tremendous game scoring 29 points against USC last December.Â
