Men's Soccer Set for Final Road Match

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - On the road for the last time this season, the University of San Francisco men's soccer team (7-5-3, 0-4-1 WCC) will close out their away schedule against Gonzaga (4-10-2, 0-1-2 WCC) at Luger Field on Saturday afternoon.

DONS AT A GLANCE:

  • In their last outing against Pacific on Oct. 29, the Dons came up short against the Tigers, 1-0, but outshot their opponent, 16-12, as five different players recorded shots. Dominic Valdivia continues to lead the team in shots as he had three against the Tigers, contributing to his total of 34 shots this season. 
  • In the nets, Eric Waltz holds his spot at fourth place for saves in the WCC rankings as he now has 47 saves on the season in addition to being in the number one spot for save percentage with .758. 
  • The Dons hold their spot in the top five for goals in the WCC as they are ranked third with 25 goals on the season so far.  
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS:
  • The Bulldogs most recently faced Saint Mary's on the road on Oct. 29, drawing 0-0 for their second tie of the year. 
  • Notably, the game marked goalkeeper Johan Garibay third shutout of the year as he faced 24 shots and made six saves against the Gaels. He currently leads the conference in saves with 61. 
  • Offensively, the Bulldogs are led in points by Kigeya Demitrius as he has accumulated 13 points over two goals and seven assists, placing him second in the conference only to Nathan Simeon in assists. He also ranks fourth in shots with 40 total. 
SERIES HISTORY:
  • The Dons lead the overall series between the two teams with a record of 13-7-2. In their last matchup the Bulldogs won in overtime with a goal in the 97th minute to make it 3-2 at the Hilltop. The last time the Dons won against Gonzaga was at Luger Field on Feb. 28, 2021 during the spring covid season.
