Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Aggies Best Dons at Chase Center

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Squaring off against one of the nation's few remaining undefeated teams, the University of San Francisco men's basketball team (7-2) could not fully find their rhythm on Sunday night against Utah State (7-0) as the Aggies defeated the Dons, 82-64, at Chase Center.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
  • Kicking things off from behind-the-arc, Tyrell Roberts got the scoring going with his first triple of the night just 36 seconds into the contest to give USF an early 3-0 lead.
  • After the Dons remained on top, 5-4, following a Julian Rishwain free throw at 17:20, Utah State responded with a 16-2 run over the next four minutes to take command, 18-7.
  • As the half played on, USF kept close as back-to-back baskets from Khalil Shabazz and Zane Meeks brought the green and gold within five, 28-23, at the 7:16 mark.
  • Catching fire to close the first twenty minutes of action, the Aggies led by double digits at the break, 44-30.
  • Moving into the second half of action, Utah State continued to dominate in most areas of the contest, including extending the gap to 22 midway through the second half at 12:55.
  • With 7:41 remaining on the game clock, the Dons cut their deficit to just seven points, 66-59. Unfortunately, this is a close as USF would get down the stretch as the Aggies showed no signs of slowing down on Sunday night by taking down the Dons, 82-64.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
  • Leading the way offensively, Roberts finished with a team-high 18 points in 27 minutes against Utah State, including 3-of-7 from distance. The fifth-year guard also added one rebound for the Dons.
  • Playing a season-high 26 minutes, Marcus Williams also finished in double figures as the Texas A&M transfer recorded 13 points on Sunday, his second-most in a single game this season (14 point).
  • Continuing to deliver when called upon, Meeks tallied 11 points on 5-of-9 from the field, marking the third straight game and sixth time this season in which he has reached 10+ points.
