HOME STRETCH:
  • The Dons now have four regular season games remaining on their schedule as the WCC Tournament looms at the beginning of March in Las Vegas.
  • Following consecutive 23 point performances against both the Tigers and Bulldogs, Ioanna Krimili is now tied for third in the WCC in points per game at 17.5 per contest for the season.
  • Kennedy Dickie continues to climb the conference's rebounding leaders as she's now fifth in the conference in rebounds per game at 6.8 as she's been a huge part of USF's improvement on the glass since being inserted into the team's starting lineup.
  • Freshman forward Claudia Langarita also made tremendous strides off the bench in the last week, beginning with a new career high 23 points in the win over Pacific followed by a highly efficient 7-for-9 shooting performance against Gonzaga on Saturday. Langarita is leading the Dons in field goal percentage at 47% good for tenth overall and is the second best among true freshmen.
  • USF's offense has greatly benefited from the team's efficient shooting from three point distance as the Dons are now second in the WCC in team three point percentage at 34.3% and are fourth overall in the league in shooting percentage at 42.3% from the field.
SCOUTING THE PILOTS:
  • The Pilots and Dons battled hard in their first meeting in the Pacific Northwest with the hometown Pilots putting together a strong comeback to secure the 65-60 victory on their home floor.
  • Sophomore forward Alex Fowler had a big game in the team's first meeting as she led both teams with 18 points to go along with eight rebounds for Portland.
  • USF will need to contend with the size of Portland as they're fourth overall in the WCC in rebounds per game, as well as being second in blocked shots thanks in large part to Lucy Cochrane who is well out in front of the conference lead in blocks as she's averaging 3.8 per game this season.
  • Despite the size and length of Portland, they're not a good outside shooting team as they're dead last in three point percentage as a team this season at 25.2%.
SCOUTING THE WAVES:
  • USF was able to take care of business in their first meeting with Pepperdine as they came away with the 78-57 victory on the Hilltop. Ioanna Krimili led all scorers with 25 points as she reached the 1,000 career points milestone and the Dons received a 13 point, 10 rebound double double from Kennedy Dickie.
  • The young Waves team have had some struggles this season with a 8-12 record overall, but they have been a much stronger team at home where they've posted a 6-4 record at Firestone Fieldhouse.
  • Freshman guard Ally Stedman has been a huge part of the Waves' offensive attack in her first collegiate season as she's leading her team in scoring at 12.2 PPG this season and led her team with 17 points in their first meeting with USF.
  • The Dons defense will need to continue to make life difficult for the Waves' offense as they have struggled to score efficiently as a team as they're both currently second to last in field goal and three point percentage this season.
