EUGENE, Ore. -- Playing in the second to last game of their road trip, the USF Dons baseball team (14-13, 3-3) couldn't get it done against the Oregon Ducks as they fell 15-5 at PK Park on Tuesday evening.
Zach Freeman led the way for the Dons' offense as he hit the first two doubles of his collegiate career, while
Luke Keaschall and
Jordan Vujovich each recorded a pair of RBI against Oregon.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- USF got off to a quick start on Tuesday as Mario DeMera drove a sacrifice fly to center field that scored Keaschall to give the Dons an early 1-0 lead.
- Oregon responded with a 10-run bottom of the first to lead 10-1 after the first inning.
- The Dons were able to answer back quickly with three runs in the top of the second as Keaschall walked with the bases loaded that scored Freeman, and Vujovich brought home Michael Campagna and Darius Foster to make it a 10-4 game.
- USF scored their fifth and final run in the top of the fifth as Keaschall hit a line drive sacrifice fly to right field that scored Foster for the second time in the game.
- The Ducks finished the scoring for both teams by the end of the fourth inning that led to a 15-5 final from PK Park to begin the series.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Freeman had a great performance making the start in right field going 2-for-4 with a couple doubles against the Ducks.
- Keaschall reached base twice with a couple walks, drove in a pair of runs and scored the first USF run of the game hitting in the leadoff spot.
- Foster went 1-for-3 at the plate, scored a couple runs and hit his first triple of the season off the wall in right center field.
- Campagna contributed a 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored against Oregon on Tuesday.
- Vujovich had a 1-for-4 game with a pair of RBI on a two-run single early in the game.
- Pitchers Josh Mollerus and Julian Washburn combined to throw four scoreless innings with each pitcher recording a strikeout in their two innings of work.
