FRESNO, Calif. - Completing their stretch of nine straight road games with another midweek matchup against the Bulldogs, the University of San Francisco baseball team (21-23, 9-9 WCC) fell at Fresno State (21-20, 10-8 MWC), 16-2, on Tuesday night at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
-
With both starters giving up no damage to begin the ballgame, the Bulldogs got on the board first on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third to take an early 1-0 lead.
-
Shortly thereafter, USF responded with one swing of the bat as Kyle Knell launched his third home run of the year over the left field wall to even the contest at 1-1.
-
In the innings to follow, the Fresno State offense would heat up as the Bulldogs went on to plate five runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and four in the sixth. In the eighth inning, Fresno State added to their advantage with another five-spot.
-
Not going down without a fight, Gabe Giosso drove home Jordan Vujovich on an RBI single in the top of the ninth, but the Dons could ultimately not find the timely hitting they needed as USF fell by a final score of 16-2.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
-
Despite the loss, five different Dons recorded at least two hits on Tuesday night: Giosso (2), Knell (2), Luke Keaschall, Mario DeMera (2) and Brandon Greim (2). Notably, Keaschall now has a team-leading 15 multi-hit games while DeMera is close behind with 10.
-
Finding their rhythm at the dish, DeMera extended his hitting streak to eight straight games against the Bulldogs while Greim pushed his streak to seven consecutive contests.
-
On the mound, Julian Washburn logged his third straight scoreless outing and eleventh overall this season.
