PROVO, Utah -- Returning to the courts and conference play, the USF Dons women's tennis team (10-7, 3-2) battled hard until the final point before ultimately coming short 4-3 on the road against the BYU Cougars at the Cougar's Tennis Courts in Provo.
The Dons got off to a quick start in Thursday morning's matches winning the initial team doubles point, and picking up individual victories from Chiho Mushika and Caragh Courtney in singles play against the Cougars. BYU was able to secure the victory at home by winning four of the six singles matches in a 4-3 comeback victory Thursday afternoon.

Doubles:
(USF) Maria Martinez Vaquero/Rita Colyer def. (BYU) Heimuli/Jiao (6-4)
(BYU) Abramyan/Huang def. (USF) Chiho Mushika/Mya Bui (6-1)
(USF) Simran Chhabra/Caragh Courtney def. (BYU) Astie/Lin (6-3)
Singles:

(BYU) Huang def. (USF) Chhabra (6-3, 7-6)
(USF) Courtney def. (BYU) Smith (6-4, 6-4)
(BYU) Lin def. (USF) Bui (5-7, 6-4, 7-6)
CATCHING UP WITH COACH BARTLETT:
"This was an epic battle and a very long, grueling match that came down to the last match. We played well in doubles getting some momentum from the doubles point. The match was tied at 3-3 and in a third set, both players competed really hard and weren't able to close the door on the victory. But I'm very proud of our team for competing hard in such adverse conditions to make it a memorable match. We'll learn from this and get better because of it.
UP NEXT:
The Dons now continue their road trip as they will head to San Diego to take on the Toreros down in Southern California on Saturday morning. Matches begin at 12:00 p.m. at the Skip and Cindy Hogan Tennis Center.
