DONS AT A GLANCE:
  • Last time out, USF fell at home to Saint Mary's, 78-61, on Saturday, Jan. 14. Offensively, Zane Meeks (17 points, 8 rebounds), Isaiah Hawthorne (13 points, 5 rebounds) and Tyrell Roberts (10 points, 6 rebounds) all finished in double figures. Notably, this trio went a combined 5-of-11 from deep while also pulling down 19 total rebounds.
  • Heading into the fourth week of conference play, Khalil Shabazz continues to rank among the WCC's best in total minutes (719, first), total steals (44, first), three-pointers made (49, fourth), free throw percentage (84.0 percent, fourth), minutes per game (34.2) and total points (319, fifth).
  • After knocking down four triples on the road at Portland last week, Shabazz is now USF's all-time leader in three-pointers made with 253 and counting.
  • Impressively, Roberts has stepped up alongside Shabazz in the backcourt for the Dons this season as the Washington State transfer has reached double figures in every game this season, which includes four 20+ point performances.
  • Down low, Meeks is averaging a career-high 6.6 rebounds per contest as the forward has pulled down 10+ rebounds four times this year while also notching four double-doubles.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS:
  • In their last time on the hardwood, Pacific fell at home to Santa Clara, 92-81, on Saturday, Jan. 14. Despite the loss, Judson Martindale paced the Tigers with 17 points on 6-of-8 from the field, including 4-of-6 from beyond-the-arc.
  • Halfway through his second season at the helm of the Tigers, head coach Leonard Perry has Pacific trending in the right directions as UOP is currently tied with Santa Clara for fourth in the conference standings with a 3-2 mark in WCC play. Notably, the Tigers have already tied their win total in conference action from a year ago as Pacific went 3-11 within the WCC in 2021-22.
  • Individually, Keylan Boone (12.6 ppg), Luke Avdalovic (1.0.1 ppg) and Tyler Beard (10.1 ppg) all average over ten points per game while Boone also leads the team with an average of 4.7 rebounds per game.
SCOUTING THE COUGARS:
  • Last week, BYU got back in the win column as they handled Pepperdine, 91-71, at home on Saturday, Jan. 14. Dominating on the blocks, Fousseyni Traore tallied a game-high 19 points, nine rebounds and three blocks for the Cougars in the win.
  • Through BYU's first six conference games this season, Spencer Johnson has delivered as the versatile guard is averaging 11.8 points and 2.3 steals per game on 54.2 percent from the floor, 63.2 percent from distance and 87.5 percent from the free throw line.
  • Looking ahead, Saturday's matchup will serve as the last meeting in San Francisco between BYU and USF with both teams as members of the WCC. This summer, the Cougars are set to join the Big-12 along with Cincinnati, UCF and Houston.
SERIES HISTORY:
  • Thursday's meeting between the Tigers and Dons will mark the 110th meeting all-time between the two programs as USF currently holds a 77-32 record against Pacific. Notably, the Dons are 41-9 at home against the Tigers, including notching a win in six of their last seven meetings on the Hilltop.
  • Saturday's meeting between the Cougars and the Dons will mark the 35th meeting all-time between the two programs as BYU currently holds a 23-11 record against USF. Despite the advantage, the Dons took two out of three from the Cougars last season, including a 75-63 win over BYU in the WCC Tournament.
