DONS AT A GLANCE:
- After splitting games at the Arizona Tip-Off Tournament last weekend, the Dons returned to the Hilltop on Wednesday night and defeated Purdue Fort Wayne in a 70-54 contest, remaining undefeated on the Hilltop this season. Jonathan Mogbo scored 15 points and grabbed a season-high 18 rebounds, which also marked a season-high among WCC players for a single game and the seventh-highest single game total at the Division I level this season. Additionally, Ryan Beasley had the best performance of his young career against the Mastodons with 20 points in 28 minutes, which included four three-pointers - all season-highs.
- In the conference, San Francisco ranks second in both points per game (81.3) and opponent points per game (60.7). Additionally, the green and gold have posted an average point differential of 20.7 points, the highest in the WCC.
- The Dons currently lead the WCC in field goal percentage (50.3%), assists per game (18.0) and steals per game (9.5), which ranks USF in the top 50 in the nation in all three categories.
- Mogbo heads into Sunday's matchup with the nation's second-highest field goal percentage, shooting at a 76.5 percent clip. After his dominance on the glass on Wednesday, Mogbo's mark of 8.8 rebounds per game is also good for fourth-most in the conference.
- San Francisco is looking to avenge its only defeat at Chase Center (2-1 all-time) after last season's loss to Utah State. The Dons will return to the home of the Warriors later this season on February 29, 2024 to host Gonzaga in the final game of WCC play.
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN GOPHERS:
- Minnesota is heading into the Bay Area on a two-game win streak, most recently picking up a home victory on Tuesday evening over Arkansas - Pine Bluff in a 86-67 win. The Golden Gophers saw four players record double-figure scoring in the contest, with junior forward Dawson Garcia leading the way with 19 points and 9 rebounds.
- Garcia, who received Preseason All-Big Ten honors, currently ranks fifth in the Big Ten in points per game (18.8) and sixth in the conference in rebounds per game (8.8).
- As a team, Minnesota's 6.0 blocks per game mark is first among Big Ten schools and tied for 19th-most among D-1 programs. The Golden Gophers are also averaging 18.8 assists per game, second-most in their conference and tied for 19th-most in the nation.
