SCOUTING THE DONS:
  • Returning home to campus after five days on the road, San Francisco picked up an important victory last time out as the Dons downed Vanderbilt, 73-60, in Nashville on Wednesday, Dec. 6. In the win, Ndewedo Newbury finished with a career-high 17 points while Jonathan Mogbo tallied his fourth straight double-double by finishing with 14 rebounds and 10 assists. With the victory, San Francisco also picked up their first road win of the 2023-24 campaign.
  • Nationally, the green and gold continue to tout a strong defense through nine games as the Dons are currently 18th in the country in scoring defense (61.6 points per game), 33rd in rebound margin (+8.6) and tied for 43rd in steals per game (9.0). Offensively, USF ranks 25th in the nation in scoring margin (16.0), 34th in field goal percentage (48.99) and 41st in effective field goal percentage (.557). Notably, San Francisco is also 25th nationally in scoring margin with a difference of 16.0 points per game.
  • As of Sunday night, Mogbo continues to rank among the country's best as the dynamic forward enters Monday's contest with the fourth-best field goal percentage in Division I at 72.84. Overall, the Missouri State transfer has scored in double figures in eight of USF's nine games so far this season while pulling down double-digit rebounds in his last four contests.
  • If San Francisco can hold their opponent to under 60 points, the Dons are a perfect 4-0 in contests when they achieve this feat. Additionally, the green and gold are also 5-0 when shooting 50 percent or better as a team from the field.
  • Dating back to the start of 2021-22, San Francisco is 19-1 in their last twenty nonconference home games with USF's only blemish coming in a 68-63 loss to UT Arlington on Dec. 19, 2022.
SCOUTING THE PRIVATEERS:
  • Completing the second half of their West Coast swing on Monday night, New Orleans fell at San Jose State, 87-82, on Saturday, Dec. 9. Despite the loss, Jordan Johnson led the Privateers with 24 points, six assists and four rebounds while Jah Short finished with 18 points on a perfect 7-of-7 from the floor in addition to grabbing a team-high eight rebounds.
  • Similar to San Francisco, New Orleans gets after it on the defensive end as the Privateers enter Monday night's contest currently 11th in the nation in turnovers forced per game (17.22) and 15th in steals per game (9.8).
  • Leading the team in scoring, Johnson comes into the game averaging an impressive 23.3 points per game while Khaleb Wilson-Rouse, who previously played at Pacific in 2021-22, is second on the team with an average of 12.0 points per game. On the boards, Jamond Vincent leads the Privateers with an average of 5.9 rebounds per game.
SCOUTING THE REDHAWKS:
  • Coming into the week with an identical 6-3 record, Seattle U dominated Northwest University, 101-46, in their last time on the hardwood in a home victory on Saturday, Dec. 9. Enjoying success offensively, five different Redhawks finished in double figures, with Paris Dawson leading the charge with 18 points in 23 minutes. As a team, Seattle U outrebounded Northwest (WA), 42-23.
  • Dangerous from multiple angles, five Redhawks come into the week averaging double figures: John Christofilis (18.0 ppg), Cameron Tyson (17.4 ppg), Alex Schumacher (13.0 ppg), Brandon Chatfield (11.3 ppg) and Kobe Williamson (11.2 ppg).
  • Facing off against a familiar opponent, Seattle U fell at home to Northern Arizona, 62-60, in a tightly-contested battled on Wednesday, Nov. 15. Looking ahead, San Francisco will battle this same NAU squad at home on the Hilltop on Wednesday, Dec. 20.
SERIES HISTORY:
  • Monday's meeting between San Francisco and New Orleans will mark the fourth meeting all-time between the two programs as the Privateers currently hold a 2-1 lead in the all-time series. Notably, New Orleans has won the last two matchups as the programs have not squared off since the UNO Christmas Classic in 1996.
  • Wednesday's meeting between San Francisco and Seattle U will mark the 27th meeting all-time between the two programs as the Dons currently hold a 19-7 lead in the all-time series. Notably, USF was victorious in the last matchup between the two teams as the green and gold defeated the Redhawks, 69-63, in their last meeting on Nov. 19, 2011.

Both Monday and Wednesday's contests will air live on ESPN+ with Chris Sylvester and Dior Lowhorn on the call.
