DONS AT A GLANCE:
  • San Francisco returns to War Memorial looking to bounce back from its closest loss of the season - a 53-54 loss against Utah State at the Delta Center this past Saturday, Dec 16. Malik Thomas and Jonathan Mogbo combined for over half of USF's points in the narrow defeat, with Thomas tallying 13 points on six shot attempts and Mogbo recording 14 points and 9 rebounds on 7-of-12 shooting.
  • With about two weeks remaining in nonconference play, San Francisco is tied with Santa Clara and San Diego for the second-best record in the WCC at 8-4, only a half game behind No. 15 Gonzaga's 8-3 record. After this week's two matchups, the Dons will have one last nonconference tuneup on Saturday, Dec. 30 against Mississippi Valley State before opening up WCC play at Pacific on Jan. 4.
  • The green and gold continue to lead the conference in assists per game (15.5), steals per game (8.7), and turnover margin (1.83).
  • Individually, Jonathan Mogbo is the only player in the WCC to be averaging a double-double (13.8 points, 10.0 rebounds per game), with his 10.0 rebounds per game leading the conference. Mogbo also continues to have one of the nation's best field goal percentages, with his 66.7 percent clip being 10thbest across Division I.
  • Wednesday's game against Northern Arizona will be the Dons' first matchup against a Big Sky opponent in five years, when the green and gold beat the Lumberjacks in a 76-60 win on the Hilltop.
SCOUTING THE LUMBERJACKS:
  • Northern Arizona comes into the Bay riding a four-game win streak, with its last three victories being decided by no more than two points.
  • In their last three games, the Lumberjacks have ended the game with game-winning shots at the buzzer. Their wins over Abilene Christian and Southern Utah came on putback layups as time expired while their win over Incarnate Word was delivered via a game-winning three-pointer with under three seconds left.
  • Junior guard Trent McLaughlin has led the charge for the Lumberjacks this season, averaging 16.3 points per game, third-highest in the Big Sky, on 45.5 percent shooting.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS:
  • Fresno State saw a three-game win streak snapped last time out in a 75-72 overtime loss to Portland State on Monday night. In the defeat, four Bulldogs scored in double figures, with senior guard Isaiah Pope leading the charge with 14 points off the bench. Like Northern Arizona, Fresno State's last game also ended at the buzzer, as the Bulldogs lost on a Portland State three-pointer at the horn.
  • Senior guard Isaiah Hill leads the Bulldogs so far this season with 14.3 points and 6.1 assists per game.
  • Prior to its narrow defeat to Portland State, Fresno State had won back-to-back games, including a 33-point blowout victory against WCC foe Pacific on Dec. 9.
SERIES HISTORY:
  • Wednesday night's matchup against Northern Arizona will be the sixth meeting all-time between the two programs, with the last meeting coming nearly five years ago to the day - a 76-60 USF victory in San Francisco on Dec. 19, 2018. Overall, the Dons lead the all-time series with a 3-2 record.
  • Fresno State  and San Francisco will meet for the third consecutive season and their 21st matchup all-time. The Dons have a 12-8 all-time record against the Bulldogs, having won their last three meetings by single digits.
