DONS AT A GLANCE:
  • In their last time out, San Francisco went head-to-head against UC Riverside, going down by one goal early on. Subsequently, Gabriel Bracken Serra scored off a penalty kick in the 29th minute to even things up, earning him two more points as he now leads the team with five points on the season. Taking the lead less than two minutes out of the halftime break, Reid Roberts notched his first goal of the season off a header from a corner kick to put the Dons in front, 2-1. Finishing the job, the green and gold held steady on defense as San Francisco took down the reigning Big West champions to remain undefeated at home.
  • Eric Waltz is currently tied for first in the WCC for saves with 14 on the season. Playing against his former team San Jose State last week, he recorded his season high of six saves on ten shots faced as the Dons tied SJSU at Spartan Soccer Complex.
  • Notably, Olivier Sylvain is also second in the conference in total shots with 15 through his first four games as a Don.
SCOUTING THE ROADRUNNERS
  • Still hungry for their first win of the season, CSU Bakersfield will face the Dons in their second road match of the year. Last time out, the Roadrunners tied 1-1 at home against fellow WCC foe Pacific on Sunday, Sept. 3.
  • Leading the charge offensively, sophomore Nathan Jimenez leads the team with nine total shots so far this season while Shia Clayton and Connor Mautino are close behind with eight shots each.
  • In goal for the Roadrunners, redshirt junior Brandon Limes has made five saves on 33 shots faced over the course of three games this fall.
SCOUTING THE BEARS:
  • After four games played, the Golden Bears are currently 2-0-2, including back-to-back wins over Farleigh Dickinson (9/1) and Dartmouth (9/3). Outscoring their opponents 9-2, California has had six different goal scorers in their first two weeks of action.
  • Offensively, senior Evan Davila is a threat for Cal as he currently leads the team with seven points from three goals and one assist. In their most recent matchup against Dartmouth, the midfielder scored a brace in their 4-0 win.
  • On the other side of the ball, junior Kevin Carmichael has impressed as he has played in all four games for the Golden Bears so far, including a full 90 minutes in the first three matches of the year. Additionally, he has also netted two goals so far this season. Notably, his goal against No. 18 Wake Forest on Aug. 27 tied the game for California as they were down by one goal in the first half.
  • In his first year in goal for the Golden Bears, redshirt sophomore Connor Lambe has had a solid start to the season as he has tallied two shutouts and ten saves on thirty shots faced over four games.
SERIES HISTORY:
  • Thursday's match between the Roadrunners and the Dons will mark the sixth meeting all-time between the two programs as CSU Bakersfield currenty holds a 3-2 advantage in the all-time series. Notabky, San Francisco has won two straight over CSUB, including a 3-0 win on the road in Bakersfield last season.
  • In their last time out against Cal, San Francisco collected a dominating 5-1 win on the road in Berkeley as Max Hamelink scored his first collegiate hat trick against the Golden Bears on Oct. 15, 2022.
