MALIBU, Calif. – Despite winning a hard-fought opening set, the University of San Francisco volleyball team (3-18, 1-10) fell at Pepperdine (15-7, 9-2) 3-1 Saturday afternoon at Firestone Fieldhouse.
 
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:

• San Francisco set the tone in the first set, winning the opening frame 25-20.
• In the early stages of the set, trailing 9-8, the Dons registered a 9-1 scoring run to take control at 17-10. Three players recorded kills throughout the run, while Andrea Fabikovicová added a service ace to lead the team.
• Despite a late run by the Waves, trimming the deficit to one, 19-18, the green and gold won six of the final eight points to secure the frame.
• Pepperdine controlled the pace of play in the second and evened the match at a set apiece, 25-12. The Waves never trailed in the frame and led by as many as 12 points.
• In the third set, Pepperdine continued its dominance with a 25-11 victory to take the lead for the first time in the match. The Waves shortly after claimed the match win with a 25-22 victory.
• The Dons battled back from a seven-point deficit late, using a 4-0 scoring run to trim the Waves' lead to 24-22, but dropped the final point and the match.

• Astrid Puig led the green and gold in kills, compiling 11 throughout the four-set match.
• Fabikovicová totaled 25 assists, the 15th time she has totaled 20 or more assists in a contest this season.
• Defensively, Abby Wadas posted a team-best 17 digs while Shannon Knight added four total blocks to lead the frontline

San Francisco returns to the Hilltop at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6, when it hosts Santa Clara in a West Coast Conference contest at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center.
