DONS AT A GLANCE:
  • San Francisco enters the new season after concluding 2024-25 with a 15-16 overall record and placed fifth in the West Coast Conference (WCC) standings at 11-9. The double-digit win total in conference play marks the fourth time in the last five years the program has secured at least 10 WCC victories in a season. Along with its regular-season success, emphasized by a season sweep of Gonzaga, the green and gold secured its first win in the conference tournament since 2022, defeating LMU, 75-66, at Orleans Arena.
  • Returners from last season's roster comprise of Sol Castro and Paula Tirado, while talented transfers Olivia Williams (UC Irvine), Mara Neira (Presbyterian/Appalachian State), Meghan McIntyre (Southern Oregon), Nevaeh Ferrara Horne (North Dakota), Michelle Ugwah (Morehead State), and Candy Edokpaigbe (Seattle U) add depth and experience to the program. Noelia Mouriño, Aina Cargol, Amy Pateman, Nataša Taušová, and Sophia Priestley complete the roster as they enter their first seasons on the Hilltop as freshmen.
  • The West Coast Conference announced its All-Preseason Team on Thursday, Oct. 23, and San Francisco was slotted to finish sixth out of the 12-team league. The Dons were also picked to finish sixth in last season's preseason poll, but ended the 2024-25 campaign in fifth place with an 11-9 conference record.
  • Last May, Head Coach Molly Goodenbour signed a three-year contract extension, extending her through the 2027-28 season. In 20 seasons as a head coach with nine on the Hilltop, Goodenbour has compiled a 307-274 record, with 134 victories coming at San Francisco. She has totaled five 20-win seasons and has guided the green and gold to six straight seasons with double-digit wins.
  • Seven of San Francisco's 11 nonconference contests to begin the 2025-26 campaign will be played at home as San Francisco hosts UNC Greensboro in the season opener, facing off against the Spartans for the first time in program history, on Wednesday, Nov. 5. The green and gold will also host Seton Hall (Friday, Nov. 14), UC San Diego (Sunday, Nov. 16), Lehigh (Wednesday, Nov. 25), CSU Monterey Bay (Sunday, Nov. 30), Colorado State (Saturday, Dec. 13), and Sacramento State (Wednesday, Dec. 17) at Chase Center.
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS:
  • UNC Greensboro opened its California road trip to begin the 2025-26 season at Stanford on Monday, Nov. 3, falling to the Cardinal 87-42 at Maples Pavilion. The Spartans fell behind early in the contest and failed to recover from a 23-point first-half deficit. Jeni Levine, a transfer guard from USC Upstate, dropped a team-high 18 points while Leyla Minor added 11 off the bench.
  • UNC Greensboro is coming off a historic 2024-25 season, finishing with a 25-7 record and earning its second-ever Southern Conference (SoCon) Championship title. The Spartans' 25 wins marked the most victories by the team in program history. With its automatic bid to the Division I Women's Basketball Tournament, UNCG earned the No. 16 seed and faced off at No. 1 Southern California (USC) on March 22, 2025, and fell, 71-25.
  • UNC Greensboro was voted to finish second while earning two first-place votes in the SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll. Along with the team's success, Jaila Lee and Makiah Asidanya were selected to the league's preseason all-conference team. Lee started all 32 games last season and is the team's leading returning scorer, averaging 9.3 points per game. Asidanya came off the bench in 2024-25 and recorded 11 double-figure scoring games and led the Spartans with 33 made three-pointers.
SERIES HISTORY:
  • San Francisco is set to take on UNC Greensboro for the first time in program history.
  • Head Coach Molly Goodenbour has faced off against UN Greensboro once before in her coaching history, falling to the Spartans 76-71 in overtime on December 21, 2008, while coaching at UC Irvine.
