SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Aided by a five-run sixth inning, the University of San Francisco baseball team (10-9) earned a 6-1 victory over Creighton (8-5) in the series opener Friday afternoon at Benedetti Diamond.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- Following a scoreless first inning, Creighton grabbed the game's first lead as Tate Gillen punched an RBI single through the middle of the infield for an early 1-0 in the top of the second.
- Shutout through the first three frames, San Francisco broke through in the bottom of the fourth inning, leveling the game at one. With two outs on the board, Jordan Lewis reached base on a hit-by-pitch and quickly moved into scoring position with a stolen base. Trevor Harmon followed with a bloop single to left-center field, plating Lewis for the tying run.
- The Dons broke open the game in the bottom of the sixth, scoring five runs to take a 6-1 advantage. With runners on the corners following back-to-back singles from TJ Rogers and Patrick Keighran, Lewis supplied the green and gold with the go-ahead run on an RBI groundout to third for a 2-1 lead.
- Three straight hits followed, highlighted by a JT Amaral two-run home run over the left-center field wall to give the Dons a five-run advantage, 6-1.
- Keeping the Blue Jays off the board throughout the remainder of the contest, Quentin Pohorski pitched the final three innings and secured the save to help guide the Dons to their second consecutive victory.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Harmon led San Francisco offensively, going a perfect four-for-four at the plate with a double, two RBI, and one run scored. His four base hits marked a new career high while recording his third multi-hit game this season.
- Amaral bolstered the green and gold's lead with a two-run home run, his second in as many games and third overall.
- Lance Santerre earned his fifth start of the campaign on the mound and pitched four solid innings, allowing one run on six hits and struck out two batters.
- Pohorski pitched the final three innings, allowing just one hit and a walk, and registered three strikeouts. In his sixth appearance in relief of 2025, Pohorski collected his team and league-leading third save.
