SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco baseball team (14-20, 4-6 WCC) dropped a 17-4 decision to LMU (17-17, WCC 5-5) in the series opener Friday afternoon at Benedetti Diamond.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- LMU struck first following a scoreless first inning, with Zion Williams scoring on a wild pitch in the top of the second.
- San Francisco quickly responded as Zack Ramppen grounded out to bring Eddison Esquivel home, and Trevor Harmon scored shortly after on a wild pitch to give the Dons a 2-1 lead.
- Beau Ankeney singled to score DJ Ghiorso at the top of the next frame, and Kolton Freeman followed with a two-RBI single to put the Lions up 4-2.
- Kenny DeCelle answered in the back half of the third with a two-run home run over the left-field wall to tie the game.
- The Lions took control with a five-run fourth inning and notched eight runs in the eighth to secure the 17-4 victory.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- DeCelle delivered at the plate with a double and a home run, driving in two of the Dons' four total runs.
- Dylan Brown had a solid outing, throwing 2.2 scoreless innings while striking out four and allowing just one hit.
