SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Wrapping up its stretch of home games, the University of San Francisco baseball team (14-15) dropped a non-conference contest to CSUN (7-17), falling 11-2 Wednesday afternoon at Benedetti Diamond.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- The Matadors took an early lead in the first inning with a sacrifice fly from Jarren Sanderson, scoring Roberto Gonzalez. A nine-run second inning, sparked by a two-run homer from Matthew Pena, extended the lead to 10-0.
- JT Amaral put the Dons on the board in the fourth with an RBI single, scoring Brendan Burke, followed by a bases-loaded walk drawn by Kenny DeCelle, trimming the green and gold's deficit to 10-2.
- Angel Cortez extended the CSUN lead in the eighth with a groundout that scored Andrew Gauna. The Matadors later held on through the ninth to secure the 11-2 victory.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- The Dons tallied seven hits in the game, with Matty Fung leading the way with three and JT Amaral adding two.
- Wesley Harwell threw a solid inning in relief, allowing one hit and recording one strikeout.
