SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco women's basketball team and Head Coach
Molly Goodenbour have announced the signing of transfer forward Michelle Ugwah for the 2025-26 season.
"Michelle is a dynamic player and an important piece that we were fortunate to be able to add to our roster," Goodenbour said. "Her athleticism, speed, and ability to defend multiple positions will be an incredible asset."
Ugwah, the next signee to join the program on the Hilltop for the upcoming campaign, enters her red-shirt sophomore season after spending two seasons at Morehead State. After missing the 2023-24 season, the Cork, Ireland native helped guide the Eagles in her first competitive collegiate season with an impressive 7.5 points per game while ranking second on the team in rebounding at 5.7 per game. Defensively, she added 18 blocks and 27 steals, third and fourth-best on the team, respectively.
Appearing in 23 games with 19 starts in 2024-25, Ugwah reached double-digit scoring seven times, highlighted by a career-high 20 points on 10 made field goals at Lindenwood on February 13. A strong rebounder, she totaled 131 boards throughout the season, third most on the team and 25th in the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC). She recorded seven or more rebounds in 10 of her 23 games played and posted a season-high mark of 11 on November 30, 2024, against Jackson State.
Before her time at Morehead State, Ugwah competed at DME Academy in Daytona Beach, Fla, and represented Ireland in the 2024 U-20 Women's EuroBasket Division B in Sofia, Bulgaria. Throughout the tournament, she averaged 8.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game and recorded an 18-point, 18-rebound double-double in the win over Croatia.
