Dons, Anteaters Finish in Scoreless Tie

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco women's soccer team (1-3-1) earned a hard-fought scoreless tie against UC Irvine (2-1-3) on Sunday afternoon at Negoesco Stadium.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:

  • San Francisco put on the pressure in the early stages of the first half as Alicia Osegueda and Kaitlyn Sasadeusz combined for three shots on goal with less than 15 minutes off the clock.
  • Neither team found the back of the net in the first half, as Tyra Bengtsson-Stenseth collected two saves in the opening 45 minutes.
  • San Francisco and UC Irvine struggled to find an offensive rhythm in the second half of play as the teams converged for just one shot on goal, an attempt by the Anteaters' Clara Samson that Bengtsson-Stenseth turned away at 83:18.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

  • Bengtsson-Stenseth recorded three saves for the Dons out of nine total shots by the Anteaters.
  • San Francisco put three shots on goal with Osegueda leading the team with two.
