SEASIDE, Calif. -- The University of San Francisco men's golf team concluded its fall schedule with a fifth-place finish at the Saint Mary's Invitational on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Bayonet & Black Horse Golf Course. The Dons recorded a three-round total of 856 (−8), highlighted by a nine-under-par final round to climb six spots on the team leaderboard.
San Francisco opened the tournament on Monday, Oct. 19, with a five-under-par 283, finishing the first round in seventh place. Alexander Thu led the Dons with an impressive four-under-par 68, placing him in a tie for seventh individually. Nathan Pouchoulon followed with a one-under-par 71, while William Svanström and Nils Svanberg each carded an even-par 72.
In Tuesday's second round, San Francisco posted a six-over-par 294, bringing its two-round total to 577 (+1) and moving into 11th place. Thu continued to lead the Dons individually, recording a one-over-par 73 to sit tied for 13th at three-under-par through 36 holes. Svanström added an even-par 72, while Pouchoulon posted a one-over-par 73.
The Dons responded with their strongest performance of the tournament during Wednesday's final round, combining for a nine-under-par 279 to secure fifth place overall. Pouchoulon led the charge with a three-under-par 69, while Thu, Svanström and Svanberg each recorded two-under-par rounds of 70. San Francisco's final-round performance marked a 15-stroke improvement from the second round.
Thu finished as San Francisco's top individual performer, tying for 12th place with rounds of 68-73-70 for a five-under-par 211. Pouchoulon followed closely behind, tying for 17th at three-under-par 213, while Svanström earned a tie for 21st at two-under-par 214. Svanberg rounded out the Dons' top four finishers, tying for 39th at two-over-par 218.
Washington claimed the team title with a 26-under-par 838, followed by Santa Clara in second at 846 (−18) and Oregon in third at 847 (−17). California finished fourth at 848 (−16), eight strokes ahead of San Francisco.
