BOULDER CITY, Nev. – The University of San Francisco women's golf team delivered its best round of the season Sunday afternoon, carding a three-under-par 285 to finish the opening round of The Clash at Boulder Creek in seventh place among 19 teams at Boulder Creek Golf Club.
Competing in its final tournament of the fall season, San Francisco put together its strongest 18-hole team performance of the campaign on the par-72, 6,429-yard course.
The Dons' lineup featured Jillian Leh, Lexi Booras, Melia Gustavson, Romina Aguirre and Emily Guan, as the Green and Gold entered the tournament looking to close out the fall on a high note.
The opening-round performance marked a significant improvement for San Francisco following its 10th-place finish at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational earlier this month. The Dons finished that tournament at 78-over-par, with Gustavson leading the team in a tie for 22nd overall.
Kansas led the 19-team field after the opening round at 21-under-par (267), followed by Boise State at 18-under-par (270) and Houston at 14-under-par (274).
San Francisco returns to the course Monday, Oct. 26, for the second round of competition before concluding the 54-hole tournament Tuesday, Oct. 27.
