SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco baseball team (6-4) earned its first win of the series, defeating California Baptist (9-3) in a narrow 3-2 decision Saturday afternoon at Benedetti Diamond.

- San Francisco jumped ahead in the bottom of the first inning, as Tino Vasell scored on a throwing error from the pitcher to put the green and gold up 1-0. Jayden Garrison doubled the Dons' advantage shortly after, scoring on a Brendan Burke RBI single for a 2-0 edge.
- With two baserunners in scoring position in the bottom of the third, Burke recorded another RBI, grounding out to third to push the lead to 3-0.
- California Baptist registered two runs in the seventh and eighth innings, but San Francisco closed the contest out in the ninth, holding on for the 3-2 win.Â
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- TJ Rogers went two-for-four at the plate, his third multi-hit game this season, highlighted by a double in the third inning.
- Burke, the lone player to record an RBI throughout the contest, posted two to match a season-high.
- Gauge Lockhart earned his third start on the mound this season and pitched four scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and striking out three batters.
- Kai Yovanovich picked up his second win of the season as he allowed one hit and recorded one strikeout in two innings pitched.
- Nick Bacura pitched 1.2 impressive frames to close the game to earn his team-best third save of the season.Â
