SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Mara Neira and Candy Edokpaigbe combined for 35 points as the University of San Francisco women's basketball team dropped a 72-55 decision at home to Saint Mary's (14-11, 5-7) Saturday afternoon at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- San Francisco struggled out of the gate, falling behind 19-13 at the end of the first quarter.
- Saint Mary's kept adding to its lead, building a 35-25 advantage before San Francisco went on a 5-0 scoring run, highlighted by a three-pointer from Neira, to narrow its deficit to 35-30 at the halftime break.
- The Dons began to trim the deficit after halftime, bringing it to 51-48 by the end of the third quarter. San Francisco took advantage of three Saint Mary's turnovers in the quarter, scoring five points off of takeaways.
- The Gaels dominated the final quarter of play, outscoring the green and gold, 21-7, to earn the double-digit victory.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Neira led San Francisco in scoring, posting 18 points on 42.8 percent (six-of-14) shooting. Four of her field goals came from beyond the three-point line, while adding three rebounds and one steal.
- Edokpaigbe posted 17 points on six-of-13 shooting and grabbed two rebounds.
- Noelia Mouriño dominated the boards, collecting a game-high 12 rebounds. Flirting with a triple-double throughout the contest, Mouriño added six points and a game-high six assists.

San Francisco returns to action when it hosts Pepperdine at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14, at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center.
