2011 WEST COAST CONFERENCE ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM - HONORABLE MENTION
AT USF 2012: Singles: primarily played the five and four position and finished with a 4-10 record (one victory over a top 50 team)... Doubles: played the two and one position and finished with a 3-10 record (one victory over a top 50 team)... named to the WCC All-Academic Team... maintained a 3.88 grade point average while working on a Business Administration degree.
USF CAREER: Admits freshman year at USF was tough as she needed to adjust to new things… received doubles award from WCC during sophomore season… wants to have the best record on the team as a junior and to become a tennis player who people don’t like to play with because she competes every shot, point and moment for herself and her team.
PREP/AMATUER CAREER: Played three years at the Weil Tennis Academy in Ojai, CA… started playing tennis at age 11… was No. 1 in her province, Saitama when she was 14, enabling her to play nationals in Japan… best ranking was No. 12 in Southern California U-16s and No. 50 nationally… best ranking was No. 25 in Southern California U-18s and No. 60 nationally.
PERSONAL: Born in May of 1990 in Japan... daughter of Kazumitsu and Michiko Hashiguchi… chose USF because she liked the team environment and its location... the best advice she could give youngsters is that hardship and difficulty make you stronger... lists her high school tennis coach as the most impressive person she has met... came to the U.S. when she was 16... would like to return to Japan to live and work after graduation... likes any book by Nicholas Sparks... favorite musical artist is Shimizu Shota... favorite food is Japanese... hobbies include watching movies and playing sports... majoring in Business Administration.
