Eric Kapel

    Men's Basketball Video Coordinator
Eric Kapel was hired as USF’s director of video in June of 2015. His chief responsibilities include coordinating video exchange, game and training videos along with highlight tapes. In addition, he also takes on various roles in the preparation of scouting reports along with various administrative duties within the basketball department.
 
Prior to his appointment at USF, Kapel served as an assistant basketball coach at Zion Lutheran High School in Deerfield Beach, Fla. He took over the head coaching duties at the end of the 2014-15 season and guided the Lions to the top-ranking among 2A schools in the state. In his two seasons at Zion, the Lions compiled a record of 45-14. Kapel also served as the head coach for the varsity cross country program. He was named Zion’s Assistant Coach of the Year and also earned the school’s Teacher of the Year honors for his work in the mathematics and physical education departments.
 
He gained further experience working with the Elev8 Sports Institute in Delray Beach, Fla. where he worked with various high-level players during their NBA pre-draft workouts. He also coached the Broward Storm AAU team and has vast experience working with Five Star Basketball Camps.
 
A 2012 graduate of the University of Colorado, Kapel was the head manager of the Buffaloes basketball team for four seasons. During his tenure in Boulder, the Buffaloes advanced to the semifinals of the 2011 National Invitation Tournament, captured the 2012 Pac-12 Tournament title and made two trips to the NCAA Tournament.
 
A native of Weston, Fla., Kapel earned his degree in communication from Colorado in 2012. He currently resides in San Francisco.
