(San Francisco) – Perris Blackwell and Angelo Caloiaro led the way for San Francisco scoring 19 points each in an 87-74 triumph against Morgan State Tuesday night in non-conference action at War Memorial Gym. The Dons (10-6) shot an impressive .538 (28-52) from the floor including .450 (9-20) from 3-point land en route to their 10th non-conference victory in their first-ever meeting against the Bears (2-9).

In perhaps its most complete offensive effort of the season, San Francisco clicked early, scoring 14 points just seven minutes into the first frame, including six points from the junior Blackwell. All told, eight of 11 Dons to enter the game scored at least three points, including five double-digit scoring efforts. Joining Blackwell and Caloiaro in the double-digit column were Cody Doolin with 13 points, Michael Williams with 11 and sophomore forward Cole Dickerson with 10 points.

Morgan State held its last lead with 9:45 remaining in the opening period at 19-18, but the Dons promptly went on a 13-4 run on the way to a 42-33 halftime lead. The Dons never trailed in the second half and built and maintained a double-digit lead.

Led by Blackwell, USF owned a 36-16 advantage in paint scoring and a 34-28 rebound edge. The Dons snared eight steals, four coming from Caloiaro who also pulled down a game-high eight rebounds.

Ameer Ali led the way for the Bears with a game-high 21 points.

San Francisco returns to action on Saturday, January 7, when it travels to Utah to face West Coast Conference rival Brigham Young. Game time is set for 3:00 PM (PT) in a game broadcast live on 95.7 The GAME.

NOTES: San Francisco wins its 10th non-conference game for the first time since 1999-00 when the Dons opened up play with a 12-1 record… USF improves to 4-0 vs. MEAC opponents… senior forward Angelo Caloiaro moved up two spots to No. 29 on the career scoring chart, finishing with 1,024 points (9.3).
