SAN FRANCISCO -- Cole Dickerson scored 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Tim Derksen and Matt Glover added 16 each to pace USF to a 96-73 victory over the Sonoma State Seawolves in the first game of the Golden Gate Challenge at Memorial Gymnasium.

The win improves USF's record to 4-3 overall while Sonoma State falls to 1-3.

Dickerson's season high 26 points came on 9-of-11 shooting from the field, including 3-of-3 from three-point range and a 5-of-6 effort from the line. He pulled down a game high 10 rebounds to record his third double-double of the season and 17th of his career.

Derksen was 6-of-7 from the field and also had four steals in the game.

The Dons shot 54.5 percent from the floor for the game compared to Sonoma State, which shot 36.9 percent. USF held a 36-33 advantage on the boards.

Brandon Glanz took high-point honors for Sonoma State, finishing with 11 points while James Davis and Zen Maki added 10 each.

Sonoma State enjoyed a 18-13 lead at the 12:27 mark of the first half before USF went on a 17-3 run to take a 30-21 lead with 7:32 left in the first half.

The Dons built a 19-point lead at halftime at 48-29.

USF's lead was never less than 13 points in the second half and led by as many as 25 points at 88-63 with 4:56 left.

The Golden Gate Challenge will continue on Friday, with USF meeting Vermont at 6:00 p.m. followed by Sonoma State and Illinois State at 8:15.
