Just the Facts, Ma'am
  • San Francisco (10-16, 3-10 WCC) enter the closing stretch of the 2012-13 with its last road game of the regular season. The Dons are coming off a road split in last week's action, taking the season sweep at Portland before falling to Gonzaga in front of a sellout crowd in Spokane, Wash.
  • San Diego (18-8, 10-4 WCC) are riding a three-game winning streak after beating Saint Mary's 67-50 on Thursday. The Toreros, who sit in third in the conference standings, have only suffered losses to the two teams above them in WCC action, Gonzaga and BYU.
  • In the last meeting between the Dons and the Toreros, USF had a chance to win or tie after battling back from a 19-point deficit in the first half. The game, decided by two points, was the closest win for San Diego on the season, as the team escaped War Memorial Gym with the 63-61 win.

In it to Win it
  • With USF earning its 10th win of the season at Portland, the Dons will finish the season with a double-digit win tally for the first time since the 2007-08 season when the team was 14-16. This year is the most successful to date for three-year head coach Jennifer Azzi.

Devine's Dimes
  • "The Jenny Craig Pavilion hosted two of USFs best back-to-back performances in the West Coast Conference Tournament. In 2001, USF upset a highly-favored Pepperdine squad in the first round and then squeaked past Loyola Marymount the following year, 66-63, in another first-round thriller. Earlier in 2002, the Dons played perhaps their most complete game of the 18-12 campaign with a 79-55 dismantling of the Toreros.
“San Diego is also home to my favorite Italian restaurant on the road, which reminds me of Arthur Avenue in the Bronx!” George Devine, USF play-by-play man

Know the Foe
  • The Toreros enter Saturday's contest with the second-best scoring offense in the WCC, averaging 67.2 points per game on a league-high 43.9 percent shooting from the field. Junior Amy Kame leads the way, averaging 16.4 points per game. Kame's numbers rank her as the second-highest scorer in the conference.
  • Coupled with its high-powered scoring attack, San Diego swats the most shots per night in the league (5.2 bpg) and pulls down 42.3 rebounds a game, good for second in the WCC.
  • The Toreros are coming off a 2011-12 campaign in which the team advanced to the semifinals of the WNIT, winning at Texas Tech and at Washington, before falling to the eventual champions, Oklahoma State.

USF and San Diego—The Series

  • The Dons and the Toreros have met 58 times over the years. San Diego holds the 34-24 overall advantage in the series that dates back to the 1986-87 season. The Toreros are riding an 11-game winning streak against USF with the Dons' last win over San Diego coming Jan. 12, 2008.

Gonzaga Remix

  • The Dons were led by freshman Taylor Proctor's 19 points and nine rebounds, narrowly missing her second-consecutive double-double outing.
  • USF also got double-digit scoring efforts from Alicia Scafid (14), Zhane Dikes (12) and Mel Khlok (11) in the loss.

Don't Mess with Texas

  • Alexa Hardick, better known as “Tex”, is USF's sharpshooter from beyond the arc. She stands second in the WCC for 3-point shooting in conference games, singing 19-of-40 attempts in the Dons' WCC contests. For the season, Hardick is shooting 45.5 percent from long-range. If she met the NCAA minimum of averaging 2.0 3-pointers per game, her percentage would rank sixth in the nation.
