Just the Facts, Ma'am

The University of San Francisco women's basketball team hosts Bay Area rival Saint Mary's at War Memorial Gym as the Dons look to rebound from Thursday night's defeat at the hands of Pacific.

Road warriors in the early goings of the season, USF has had more success away from the Hilltop (6-4) than at home (1-4), and the Dons will attempt to alter that trend against the Gaels.

What 2 Watch 4

With big back-to-back outings for Proctor, her 13.2 points and 8.3 rebounds leads the charge for the Dons. The trio of Taj Winston (12.1 ppg), Rachel Howard (11.9 ppg) and Zhané Dikes (11.3 ppg) rounds out USF's double-digit scoring. Proctor's tallies propelled her to 14th in the WCC in scoring average as she holds strong as the conference's fifth-best rebounder.

Know the Foe - Saint Mary's

Saint Mary's high-octane offense is led by Jackie Nared, who pours in a league-high 21.1 points per night, good for 24th in the NCAA. Teammate Danielle Mauldin ranks thirds in the WCC, adding 17.9 points and a conference-best 14.1 rebounds per game to anchor the post. As a team, the Gaels find themselves high on the national statistical charts in 3-point percentage (40.2% - 7th) and free throw percentage (78.4% - 8th) as the Gaels have scoring margin of nearly nine points per game. Saint Mary's is receiving votes in the latest AP and USA Today Coaches polls.

Pacific Remix

For the second straight game, Taylor Proctor's offense amounted to a new career high, as the sophomore from Colorado Springs, dropped in 29 points to go along with 10 rebounds for the double-double. However, it wasn't enough to overcome a 20-point halftime deficit despite a furious second-half comeback bid to cut the lead to single digits heading into the final minute of action.

Devine's Dimes

"It's not too long ago that the Dons scored one of their biggest wins in the Jennifer Azzi era, in 2012 when Rheina Ale's layup beat the buzzer and knocked Saint Mary's from first-place contention.

"Saint Mary's has been a top mid-major program for many years now and a Dons win would represent a major milestone in the program's rebirth!"

On the Horizon

USF continues its four-game homestand next week on the Hilltop, the Dons face Gonzaga and Portland in a rare Friday/Sunday game rotation.

Dishing and Swishing - 2013-14 WCC Highlights

SoCal Sweep
For the first time since 2002-03, the Dons traveled to LA for two games and escaped Southern California with two victories. Junior Taj Winston led the charge, averaging 18.0 points on 45.8 percent shooting, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.0 assists in USF's pair of wins. Taylor Proctor came up big at Pepperdine, posting a career-high 22 points as the Dons crashed the Waves.

Comeback Kids
USF posted the largest comeback in the Jennifer Azzi era during non-conference action, after overcoming a 16-point deficit to defeat UNLV. The come-from-behind win against the Rebels was the first double-digit lead erased in the past three seasons. Since that contest, USF has found itsself down by 10 or more points only to go on to win at Boise State (12 points), at Loyola Marymount (11 points) and at Pepperdine (10 points).
