The Dandy Dons
  • Now 5-4 on the season after dropping a 81-76 decision to Eastern Washington last Thursday in Memorial Gymnasium...it was the Dons first home loss of the season after four straight wins.
  • Are 2-4 over the last six games after opening the season with three straight wins.
  • Are 17-6 on the Memorial Gym hardwood over the last two seasons...averaging 82.8 ppg and outscoring opponents 82.8 to 58.0 in five home games this season.
  • Face defending Big West Tournament champions Cal Poly for the first time since the 2009-10 season when the Dons posted a 73-62 win in the season opener on the Hilltop...Dons are 5-2 all-time vs. Cal Poly.
  • Have not been outrebounded in a game this season...have won the battle of the boards in eight contests and were even against Florida Gulf Coast...rank first in the WCC in rebound average (41.9) and third (13th nationally) in rebound margin (+10.8)...three players are averaging 5.7 or more boards a game led by Kruize Pinkins at 7.1.
  • Allowing 64.0 ppg which is the sixth lowest opponent mark among WCC teams...have allowed just 56.4 (282 total) ppg in their five wins and 73.5 ppg in four losses.
  • Shooting 48.2 percent from the floor, second-best in the WCC...have shot 50 percent or better in four games this season, including a season-high 66.7 percent effort vs. Montana.
  • Shooting just 57.0 percent (131-for-230) from the line after nine games, last in the WCC...free throw percentage is the third-lowest among 345 Division I teams...USF shot just 64.8 percent (523-for-807) from the line last season.
  • Have made just 46.4 percent (39-for-84) of their free throws in four losses which have come by an average of 10.0 points.
  • Senior Kruize Pinkins is coming off career highs in both points (30) and rebounds (14) against Eastern Washington...he continues to lead the team in scoring (16.9) and rebounding (7.1).
  • Junior Mark Tollefsen has scored in double figures in all nine games this season, including a career high 23 points vs. Evansville...he now ranks second behind Pinkins in scoring average at 14.0 ppg.
  • Senior Matt Glover has made 9-of-17 three-point attempts to start the season and ranks second the WCC in three-point field goal percentage at .529.
  • Have used three different lineups in six games thus far this season...used three starting combos all of last season.
  • The win over Houston Baptist was Rex Walters' 103rd coaching victory at USF...six other Don coaches have reached the 100-win milestone.
  • Return to action Thursday night to face Portland State on the Hilltop (7:00 p.m.)...will travel to Cleveland State for its last non-conference game of the season on Dec. 21.

Opening Tip
USF (5-4, 0-0 WCC) plays the third of four consecutive home games Monday night when the Dons play host to Cal Poly (3-4, 0-0 Big West) in a 7:00 p.m. start inside Memorial Gymnasium. The Dons are coming off a 81-76 loss to Eastern Washington on Thursday night while the Mustangs dropped a 63-57 decision Saturday night at Fresno State.

Series History with Cal Poly
In a series that dates back to the 1960-61 season, USF leads the all-time series with Cal Poly, 5-2. The two teams last met in the opener of the 2009-10 season, with the Dons prevailing 73-62 in Memorial Gym.  The win avenged a 61-40 Mustang victory the season before at Mott Gym.  Cal Poly won the first game of the series in 1960-61, 60-51, but the Dons have won five out the last six games since .

Last Time Out
USF dropped a 81-76 decision to Eastern Washington last Thursday night in Memorial Gymnasium, its first home loss of the season after four consecutive wins. The Dons trailed by as many as 12 points in the first half and led only briefly three times in the second frame. Kruize Pinkins finished with career highs in both points (30) and rebounds (14) while Tim Derksen added 14 and Mark Tollefsen finished with 13. The Dons made just 16-of-30 of their free throw attempts in the five-point loss.

Parking Information
Parking is available free of charge two hours prior to tip-off until one hour after the conclusion of the game in any campus lot, with the exception of designated green parking spots and the top of Hayes-Healy garage on Golden Gate Avenue adjacent to the gymnasium.
 
The Hilltop Club Level
USF Athletics is pleased to announce the opening of The Hilltop, a new club level where fans 21 and older can enjoy beverages and catered food options before and during designated games during the 2014-15 season. Located in the upper mezzanine level on the south side of Memorial Gymnasium, The Hilltop will open one hour before tipoff and will remain accessible throughout the game. Beer, wine, soft drinks and catered food options will be available to all fans 21 years of age and older. Admission to the The Hilltop is priced at $25 per game. Season passes for all games with the exception of designated premium games may also be purchased for $250. Food and drink options are extra. The cost does not include a game ticket.
