MARICOPA, Ariz. -- The Dons shot a final round 303 to tie for fifth place at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic which was held at the AK-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Ariz.
USF's 54-hole team total of 903 (+39) earned the Dons a share of fifth place with Boise State. Both teams were 15 strokes behind first place Nevada, which captured the team title with a 24-over score of 888, seven strokes clear of second place Washington State.
Geneieve Lang of Boise State earned medalist honors with a even par score of 216, good for a two stroke victory over Wenny Chang of Lamar.
USF's Emelie Lundstrom had a one-stroke lead on the field heading into Tuesday's final round, but slipped into a tie for ninth place after a final round 77. The Swede was just two-over on her round before running into trouble on the par-3 17th hole, where she made a triple bogey six. Her 54-hole score of 221 (+5) was her best tournament showing of the season.
Ayaka Suzuki bounced back from a second round 81 to close with a 73 to earn a share of 22nd place at 225 (+9). Her card had just two bogeys and one birdie and 15 pars.
Clare Sorensen moved up into a tie for 30th place after a final round 74 left her at 227 (+11) for the tournament.
Vanessa Ha and Alison Lillie were part of a tie for 60th place at 234 (+18) after posting rounds of 80 and 79 on Tuesday.
USF will take the rest of the week to prepare for the WCC Championships which get underway next Monday at the Saticoy Golf Club in Somis, Calif.
