Live Video: NoneSAN FRANCISCO - The Dons opened up the 2015 season with a pair of contests at Negoesco Stadium this past weekend, starting off with a scoreless draw against Cal Poly on Friday night, followed by a 1-0 victory over UC Santa Barbara at home on Sunday.

Amanda Whittle scored the game-winner in the 86th minute of action when
Alex Alugas delivered a long arching pass across the pitch from the right wing that Whittle was able to corral near the end line on the left wing. Whittle then took her defender one-on-one along the end line and was able to tuck a shot past UCSB keeper Beth Ritter inside the far post for the game-winner and tally the Dons' first goal of the season.

women's soccer schedule page at USFDons.com. DEJA VUAmanda Whittle notched the Dons' first goal of year this past Sunday with her game-winner in the 86th minute. It was the second consecutive season Whittle has tallied the first goal of the season for USF after scoring in the 57th minute of a 3-1 loss at Cal in the 2014 season opener.
ONE FOR THE AGESMadalyn Schiffel became USF's career leader in solo shutouts (16) after helping the Dons post back-to-back shutouts to open the season this past weekend. Schiffel surpassed Amy Voiland (1994-98), who compiled 14 solo shutouts during her career. Voiland remains the program leader in total shutouts with 21.

DONS PICKED 6TH IN WCCUSF was picked to finish 6th in the 2015 WCC preseason poll, while senior goalkeeper

Jessica Nakae were selected for the preseason All-WCC team. The Dons received a total of 40 points in the poll. BYU, the WCC's defending champion, took home the top spot with eight first-place votes. Santa Clara was voted to finish second after collecting 69 total points with two first place votes, followed by preseason No. 10 Pepperdine (63) in third place and San Diego (61) in fourth.
TELSON TAKES GOLDSr. F
Sydnie Telson enjoyed a summer in Berlin, Germany where she helped the U.S. team win gold at the 2015 Maccabi Games, major international multi-sport event held every four years. Telson started all four matches and contributed three assists as the U.S. team went 4-0, including a 2-0 victory over Sweden in the gold medal game.

Madalyn Schiffel, who was named second team All-WCC last season, participated in the Team USA U-23 camp in April with some of the best college players in the country.
