Dons fall to Tigers
10/22/2016 2:28:00 PM | Women's Volleyball
It was a day for looking forward to a bright future for the USF Dons as three freshman stepped to the forefront in Stockton as the team was swept by the Pacific Tigers (13-9, 7-3 WCC).
Two of the freshman registered double-digit assists as Shannon Levinson had a team-high 11 and Trish Koutsoukos followed closely with 10 of her own. Levinson added seven digs in the match and Koutsoukos added five more. Fellow freshman Tyna Adamcikova tallied a team-high nine kills to go with four digs as she continues to be the conference's second leading freshman in kills with 266 on the season.
This game also featured the ever-steady hands of the team's upperclassmen as well. Senior Emily Reed had eight kills in the game to go with six digs and an ace. Junior Kim Gutierrez continued to pile on her assist total with 12 more on the afternoon. And the junior tandem of Marjolijn Oskam and Nora Buvarp Lavik each had four block assists, as did sophomore Montana Green.
The Dons (4-19, 0-10 WCC) return home this week as they play host to Gonzaga on Thursday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. followed by a tilt with Portland on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 1 p.m. All games can be seen live on TheW.tv.
