HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. -- USF's women's golf team shot its lowest round of the three-day Ron Moore Intercollegiate held outside of Denver to finish 13th in the 18 team event.
The Dons improved each day of the event and ended with a 10-over score of 298 on Sunday, good for a 13th place showing.
Pepperdine went wire-to-wire to capture the team title with a winning score of 854 (-10), good for a four stroke victory over host Denver, which finished at 6-under 858. Both teams shot final 4-under rounds of 284 on Sunday to maintain their positions on the leaderboard. Kentucky was a distant third at 7-over 871.
Sophie Newlove of Denver claimed medalist honors with a 6-under score of 210. She carded a 2-under final round of 70 to earn a two stroke victory over Pepperdine's Hira Naveed, who finished at 212 (-4). Tatiana Wijaya's final round 68 was the lowest score of the day and propelled the junior into third place with a 54-hole total of 213 (-3).

The St. Ignatius product enjoyed three days of steady play, turning in back-to-back even par rounds before dipping into red numbers for the first time this season on Sunday. Gong's three birdies on the day offset a double bogey on her 14th hole.
Mabel Wong turned in a 75 on Sunday, which was her best showing of the event. The sophomore was four over after her first seven holes but played even par the rest of the way to finish in a tie for 75th place at 227 (+11).
Alison Lillie had three birdies on her card today and closed with a 76. The senior tied for 79th place with a 54-hole total of 232.
Senior Ayaka Suzuki was also part of the group at 232 after she shot a final round 78 on Sunday.
Junior Emily Laskin had four birdies on her Sunday card en route to a closing round of 76. She tied for 83rd place at 233.
USF will have a short turnaround before returning to action on Friday at the Stanford Fall Intercollegiate.
