Opening Tip
USF (13-11, 6-7 WCC) wraps up its four-game homestand on Saturday against the San Diego Toreros (8-16, 3-10 WCC). Tip-off is set for 3:00 p.m. in War Memorial at The Sobrato Center and the game will be televised locally in the Bay Area on CSNCA. Both teams suffered losses on Thursday night. USF dropped a 114-89 decision to BYU while San Diego was upended at Santa Clara, 74-71.

USF at a Glance
  • Now 13-11 overall and 6-7 in the WCC after Thursday night's, 114-89 loss to BYU...Devin Watson (29), Tim Derksen (25) and Ronnie Boyce (15) combined for 69 points but it wasn't enought to offset 17 Cougar three-pointers.
  • Enter Saturday's game alone in fifth place in the WCC standings behind fourth place Pepperdine (15-10; 8-6) and one game ahead of Santa Clara (9-16; 5-8) and Pacific (7-16, 5-8).

  • Senior guard Tim Derksen ranks eighth in the WCC in scoring (15.9), eighth in rebounding (6.6) and fourth in three-point percentage (44.7)...joins Kyle Wiltjer of Gonzaga as the only player to rank in the top-10 in all three of those categories.
  • The duo of Watson and Derksen is averaging 36.1 ppg (867 total) and account for 46.4 percent of USF's season point total (867 of 1864)...they are the second-highest scoring tandem by average in the WCC behind Kyle Wiltjer-Domantas Sabonis (941; 39.2) of Gonzaga.
  • Junior Ronnie Boyce has scored in double figures in 11 of 13 WCC games and is averaging 16.1 ppg in conference play....USF is averaging 85.8 points per game (944 total) in Boyce's 11 starts this season.

About San Diego
Bring a 8-16 overall record and a 3-10 WCC mark into Saturday's game…is 1-9 in true road games this season and 3-11 overall away from home…dropped a 74-71 decision at Santa Clara on Thursday night…senior Duda Sanadze scored a team high 18 points off the bench for the Toreros…only road win came at Portland on January 24…score just 61.0 points a game, which ranks 10th in the WCC…Sanadze tops the team in scoring with a 11.9 point per game mark…had a streak of 265 games with at least one three-pointer made snapped last Saturday against St. Mary's when the Toreros went 0-for-11 from distance…senior center Jito Kok ranks first in the WCC and 17th in the nation in blocks per game at 2.58…he ranks third on the WCC's all-time career list for blocks with 255…among the losses off of last year's team were the school's all-time leading scorer Johnny Dee and all-time assist leader Chris Anderson…under the direction of first-year head coach Lamont Smith, a former player at San Diego from 1994-99…was previously the associate head coach at New Mexico and also spent time at Washington, Arizona State, Santa Clara, Saint Mary's and Saint Louis.

Series History with San Diego
USF leads the all-time series with San Diego, 40-36. USF has won nine out of the last 12 contests vs. the Toreros, including a 5-1 mark in Jenny Craig Pavilion dating back to the 2009-10 season. USD swept the season series last year, winning 57-56 on New Year's Night in San Francisco and 77-69 on Jan. 31 in San Diego. It was the Toreros first season sweep of the Dons since the 2008-09 campaign.

First Meeting With San Diego 
Ronnie Boyce made 5-of-6 three-pointers and scored a career high 22 points as USF downed San Diego, 73-65 on Jan. 7 at Jenny Craig Pavilion. Devin Watson (16), Tim Derksen (12) and Uche Ofoegbu (11) joined Boyce in double-figures to help the Dons to their third win in four games. Vasa Pusica led all San Diego scorers with 19 points. The Toreros were without the services of leading scorer Duda Sanadze, who missed the game with illness. Derksen also pulled down nine rebounds while Boyce grabbed nine as the Dons outrebounded the Toreros, 38-33. The Dons shot 46.4 from the field and were 8-of-14 (57.1) from long distance while the Toreros managed to shoot just 34.5 percent from the floor, including 15.4 percent (4-of-26) from distance. USF trailed just once in the game at 4-2 and led a halftime, 31-24. USF led by as many as 14 points at 67-53 with 4:45 remaining before winning by the final 73-65 count.

Last Time Out

BYU made 17 three-pointers en route to a 114-89 victory over USF on Thursday night. Six Cougars scored in double figures, led by Nick Emery, who made 10-of-12 three-point attempts and finished with a game-high 37 points. Chase Fischer added 22 while Kyle Collinsworth chipped in with 17 to go along with eight assists. Devin Watson led all USF scorers with 29 points, Tim Derksen finished with 25 and Ronnie Boyce added 15. No other Don player managed to score more than five points on the night. Dont'e Reynolds pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds. The Cougars shot 57.6 percent from the field for the game, including a staggering 63.0 percent from long distance. USF led briefly at 5-2 just minutes into the game and trailed by just eight points at 29-21 with 9:16 left before intermission. A pair of three-pointers by Emery and one by Fischer keyed a 9-0 run which opened the Cougars lead to 17 at 38-21 with 7:48 left in the first. The Cougars enjoyed as much as a 26-point lead at 99-73 with 7:53 left before cruising to the 114-89 victory. The 114 points were the most allowed by a USF team since the Dons dropped a 117-73 decision at Duke on Jan. 26, 1993.

Parking Information
Parking is available free of charge two hours prior to tip-off until one hour after the conclusion of the game in any campus lot, with the exception of designated green parking spots and the top of Hayes-Healy garage on Golden Gate Avenue adjacent to the gymnasium.
 
The Hilltop Club Level
Fans 21 and older can enjoy beverages and catered food options before and during designated games during the season in the Hilltop Club Level. Located in the upper mezzanine level on the south side of War Memorial at The Sobrato Center, The Hilltop Club Level will open one hour before tipoff and will remain accessible throughout the game. Beer, wine, soft drinks and catered food options will be available to all fans 21 years of age and older. Admission to the The Hilltop is priced at $25 per game. Season passes for all games with the exception of designated premium games may also be purchased for $250. Food and drink options are extra. The cost does not include a game ticket.
