#OneTeam
The 4-0 San Francisco beach volleyball team takes to their home court in Piper Park Wednesday, hosting the one-day USF Invitational. USF went undefeated in its matches at the Stanford Invitational, downing No. 16 Pacific, its third win in program history over a ranked opponent to start the season. The Dons also earned victories against regional foes Saint Mary's, Sacramento State and San Jose State.
"We are very excited to host on our home court the first of two total home dates we have this season," noted co-head coach
Gilad Doron. " We are hoping for a good showing, and looking for our team to continue to grow and improve from our first weekend on the sand."Â
About the Spartans
San Jose State picked up its first win in program history at the Stanford Invitational, defeating Sacramento State 3-2. The Dons and the Spartans met once this season, also at the Stanford Invitational, and USF won the 3-2 decision. USF and San Jose State have met three times on the sand, all of which have been wins for the Dons. Last season, the Dons downed the Spartans 4-1 on March 7, 2016.
About the Pilots
Portland is embarking on its first season sponsoring a beach volleyball program, and the Pilots open the year today at Saint Mary's before participating in the USF Invitational.
Looking Ahead
USF travels to Sacramento State for a pair of matches on Saturday. First the Dons take on the Hornets at 10 a.m., before meeting up with Santa Clara at 1 p.m.Â
