The USF women's soccer team heads back out on the road this weekend for matchups with two SEC opponents whom the Dons have never faced before. The Dons (2-2) will face Missouri at 4:30 Pacific time on Friday before meeting Vanderbilt on Sunday for a 10 a.m. Pacific contest.
The Dons are looking to bounce back after dropping both games of a road swing against Big West opponents this past weekend. USF lost at Cal Poly 2-1 on Friday and was shutout at UC Santa Barbara 2-0 on Sunday. Against the Cal Poly,
Amanda Whittle netted her third goal in as many games by scoring the equalizer in the 60th minute, but the Mustangs scored the golden goal in the 95th minute for the overtime win.
At UCSB, the Dons came up just short on multiple chances throughout the game but weren't able to tally a goal, while the Gauchos struck in the 12th and 52nd minutes.
Missouri (3-1) is coming off a pair of wins this past weekend at home against Illinois and Colorado. Sarah Luebbert leads the team with three goals on the year so far, while Erin Webb paces the team with three assists.
Meanwhile, Vanderbilt (2-2) split home contests this past weekend, losing to Florida State 3-0 before rolling to an 8-0 defeat of Jackson State. Sasha Gray leads Vanderbilt with three goals, while Grace Jackson has pitched in with a goal and three assists.
Freshman goalkeeper
Makayla Presgrave has been busy in her first four games of regular action of her career as she helps anchor the USF defense in the early going. Presgrave leads the West Coast Conference with 23 saves so far, including a season-high nine saves against Cal Poly this past Friday, the most for a Don keeper since
Madalyn Schiffel's 10 stops against Fresno State in 2012.
