PROVO, Utah-- USF women's volleyball struggled to find a way to slow down the attack from No. 13 BYU in its three set loss against the Cougars (25-15, 25-16, 25-10).

San Francisco (4-11, 0-2 WCC) had difficulty finishing off rallies, as the Dons finished the match with 26 kills and a .037 hitting percentage. BYU displayed a balanced attack en route to an impressive 42 kills on just 75 attacks (.440).

For the Dons, freshman Tyna Adamcikova led the attack with 12 kills. The 6-0 hitter now has nine games with double digit kills. Senior Emily Reed recorded eight kills while freshman middle blocker Kate Ashman compiled three. Trish Koutsoukos totaled 16 assists for USF while fellow freshman Shannon Levinson finished with eight.

The efficient Cougars attack was spearheaded by McKenna Miller's nine kills and eight from Lacy Haddock. Defensively, BYU displayed a stout front, as the Cougars recorded nine total blocks. Lyndie Haddock totaled 25 assists for BYU's attack.

In the opening game, the Green and Gold got off to a solid start thanks to an opening kill and back-to-back aces by Adamcikova. BYU would go on blistering runs to take a five point lead, but USF would continue to claw back within one after a strong defensive effort and another Adamcikova kill. Despite the effort, the Dons would fall short to the Cougars, as the home squad finished the game on a 8-1 run.

USF returns to the Hilltop for a slated showdown against Bay Area rivals, Saint Mary's on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. The Dons will then go up north to the Pacific Northwest for matches against Portland (Sept. 29) and Gonzaga (Oct. 1).
