SAN FRANCISCO – The University of San Francisco men's basketball team looks to make it two in a row when they host Sacramento State in a non-conference clash on Friday night at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center.

Friday's contest is game three of a season-long five game homestand for USF (1-1) who is coming off a 75-63 win over Saint Francis on Monday night.  Souley Boum once again led the Dons in the scoring column, pouring in 21 against the Red Flash.  Joining the Dons in double figures that evening was Jordan Ratinho (17) and Frankie Ferrari (11).

About the Dons
  • Dons improved to 1-1 with a 75-63 win over Saint Francis on Monday.  The game featured three ties and six lead changes, all coming in the opening half.
  • The Dons outrebounded their opponent for the second consecutive contest on Monday, Nate Renfro grabbed a game-high eight rebounds in the game.USF was 13-4 last season when outrebounding their foes and is not 1-1 this year.
  • Freshman Souley Boum is 74th in the nation in points per game, averaging 21.5 points per contest, he is sixth in the nation among freshmen.
  • Jordan Ratinho and Boum rank 40th and 44th respectively in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage.  Ratinho is 7-for-11 (63.6 percent) from long range, while Boum is 5-for-8 (62.5 percent) from beyond the arc.
  • The Dons are 1-1 this season at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center, they are averaging 73.0 points per game, while their opponents are averaging 73.0.
  • USF has had 12 players see the court so far this season, with 10 playing 10 or more minutes per contest.  Ratinho is the only Don averaging more than 30 minutes per game.
 About Sacramento State
  • Sacramento State (1-1) opens a stretch of six straight games away from the Nest on Friday evening when the Hornets travel to the Bay Area.
  • The Hornets opened the season last Friday with a 72-61 loss at Colorado State, and won their home opener on Tuesday over Notre Dame de Namur, 74-53.
  • The Hornets played one exhibition game this year, and that resulted in a 94-75 win over UC Santa Cruz in which Justin Strings scored 44 points on 19-of-23 shooting.
  • Sacramento State is coming off a 2016-17 season in which the team went 13-18 overall and 9-9 in the Big Sky Conference. The Hornets began the season with a 3-8 nonconference record, and then fell to 3-11 overall and 0-3 in the Big Sky. However, an 88-83 win at Southern Utah on Jan. 12 began a streak in which the Hornets won 10 of their final 17 games. Included in that run were five wins away from home after losing their first nine games outside of Sacramento.
  • The Hornets welcome back eight players from a year ago, including three starters. However, one of those starters (senior guard and co-captain Marcus Graves) was lost for the season after undergoing back surgery. Last year, Graves started all 31 games while averaging 13.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 35.1 minutes per game.
  • The two starters that are back and healthy are senior forward Justin Strings and sophomore guard Izayah Mauriohooho-Le'afa. Strings was a second team all-conference selection after leading the team with 15.9 points per game, and Mauriohooho-Le'afa averaged 4.6 points while, often times, guarding the opponent's top scoring threat.
