THE RUNDOWN
SAN FRANCISCO – The University of San Francisco's women's basketball team is headed to Greeley, Colo. to match up against the University of Northern Colorado (3-0, 0-0) on Sunday afternoon.
The Dons (1-1, 0-0) are coming off a heartbreaker loss against Washington State that came down to the final seconds. Although it counted as a loss, the showing was a huge improvement from last year's outing against the Cougars in which the Dons were held to 35 points against WSU's 73.
The Dons have not seen UNC since the 2011-12 season when the Colorado visitors defeated USF 85-81. Second-year head coach
Molly Goodenbour will look for her team to carry their confidence and momentum into tomorrow's match-up against the Bears.
WHAT'S GOODenbour
On the matchup with the Bears:
"We are looking forward to a competitive game. I've been impressed with UNC's poise, experience and efficiency. They shoot well, don't make a lot of mistakes and they play with a lot of confidence. This should be a good game and a great win for us given how UNC has been competing."
On where USF's mentality is:
"We are ready to bounce back from the WSU game. We are a tougher group than last year. I like our scrappiness so far. One thing is that we need better rebounding from our forward positions and we need to knock down shots more consistently. I think we are excited to get going."
