SAN FRANCISCO – Highlighted by Anna Seilund's career-high 36 point performance, the University of San Francisco women's basketball team earned their first West Coast Conference win Saturday at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center as they took down Portland, 84-75. The win brings the Dons streak to 6-0 over the Pilots in their last several meetings and also extends Portland's skid to 0-5.

Although the Pilots led for most of the opening frame, four turnovers in the final two minutes and the Dons 60.0 percent shooting helped USF steal back the lead and gain a 21-18 advantage headed into the second quarter. The Dons held the visitors scoreless in the final two minutes.

Portland struck first in the second quarter, sinking a three-pointer to tie it up 21-21 with 9:16 to go. The two teams traded buckets, gridlocked most of the way until the Pilots closed the quarter hitting six of their last eight field goals to take a 36-33 lead into the half. The visitors shot 50.0 percent from both field-goal and three-point range in the second.

The Dons caught fire in the third, shooting 62.5 percent to outscore the Pilots 29-22. USF hit five three pointers and went on a 16-4 scoring spree near the end of the quarter to head into the final frame up, 62-58.

Coach Goodenbour's squad made sure to step on the gas in the final frame, powered by Seilund. The senior guard dropped 12 points in the fourth, 24 in the second half to help the Dons capture their first WCC victory.

DONS BY THE NUMBERS

Seilund led the Dons with a career-high 36 points, shooting 68.8 percent (11-for-16) in her 39 minutes of action.
Seilund hit six three-pointers on 66.7 percent (6-for-9), bringing her career total to 158, one shy of tying fourth in the USF history books for career made three-point field-goals at 159.
Seilund also had a game-high seven assists and a season-high four steals.
Two other Dons added 10-plus points including Shannon Powell (13) and Ninni Salmi (11). Salmi had three three-pointers.
The Dons registered a season high field-goal percentage of 50.0 percent, shooting 29-for-58. Their previous season high was 46.8 against Sacramento State on Dec. 12.
The contest was tied seven times and had 10 lead changes.
As a team, USF tallied 11 three pointers, one shy of a its team high this season (12 vs Sacramento State).
With nine steals, the Dons recorded a season high for steals in a game.
USF shot 60.0 percent in the first fame.
The Dons had 14 fast break points to Portland's six.

The Dons hit the road for a trip to Provo, Utah to visit BYU (6-7, 1-1). They will then return home to the Bay Area to take on Pepperdine on Sat., Jan. 6 at 2 p.m. at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center.
