Dons Return Home to Face No. 15 Gonzaga

The University of San Francisco men's basketball team returns to the friendly confines of War Memorial at the Sobrato Center to kick off a four-game home stand on Saturday when No. 15 Gonzaga comes to down.  The game against the Bulldogs will be televised nationally on ESPNU, the fourth time this year the Dons have appeared on a national broadcast.

TOMORROW'S GAME
The Dons enter tomorrow's contest with a 10-8 record and are 2-3 in the WCC following a heartbreaking 67-65 loss at the hands of host Loyola Marymount on Thursday night at Gersten Pavilion.  As a team, the Dons are averaging 69.3 points per game and shooting 41.3 percent from the field.  Three players are averaging 10 points or better and are led by freshman guard Souley Boum who is averaging 14.1 points per contest.  Gonzaga enters Saturday's contest ranked No. 15 in both the AP and the coaches poll.  They are 15-3 on the year and 5-0 in the WCC.  Last time out, they defeated Portland 103-57 in Spokane.  The Bulldogs are one of the nation's most prolific scoring teams, averaging 90.6 points per game which is third in the nation, they have six players averaging better than 10 points a game and are led by Johnathan Williams 13.9 points per contest.
 
THE SERIES
The Dons and Bulldogs have squared off 77 times with the Gonzaga owning a 55-22 advantage in the series that dates back to the 1961 season.  USF owned the series in the 60's and 70's with the Bulldogs taking control of the series from the 90's on.  Under former head coach Pete Peletta, USF defeated Gonzaga 64-62 on Jan. 28, 1961 in the series first contest.  The Bulldogs have won 11-straight and four in a row at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center. The last time these two teams squared off, Gonzaga defeated the Dons 96-61 in Spokane on Feb. 16, 2017.
