Dons Travel to Southern California to Take on Waves and Lions

The University of San Francisco women's soccer team travels down the Highway 101 to take on Southern California foes Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount this weekend.  The Dons will square off against the Waves in Malibu on Friday at 3:00 p.m. before wrapping up the weekend in Los Angeles taking on the Lions at Sullivan Field on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.  Live stats and video will be available for both games.

WHATS THE STORY
• The Dons look to end a two-game losing streak on Friday when they take on Pepperdine.  The two-game skid matches their longest of the season when the Dons lost back-to-back contests against Oklahoma and Oklahoma State Sep. 7 and 9.    
• The Dons are coming off a 3-2 loss at the hands of No. 4 Santa Clara, the two goals scored by the Dons was the most they have scored in a WCC opener since Oct. 7, 2011 when the Dons took down LMU 2-1.
•  USF is 1-3 on the road this year, their lone road win game against Montana in the opening week of the season when the Dons defeated the host Grizzlies 2-0 at the Montana Cup finale.
•  The Dons have scored two or more goals in nine of the 12 contests this season, USF scored two or more goals in nine games all last year.  Samantha Jehnings leads the Dons in scoring, the redshirt junior has nine goals on the year, including three multi-goal games this season.
 
TOMORROW'S GAME
On Friday, the Dons will take on the defending WCC Champions at 3:00 p.m. in Malibu.  The Waves enter the contest with a 6-6 overall record and are 1-1 in WCC play.  At home, Pepperdine is 3-2 with wins over Brown, St. Johns and UC Irvine.  Last week, the Waves split their NorCal trip, defeating Pacific 2-0 before falling to Saint Mary's 1-0 in Moraga.  Leading the team in scoring is Joelle Anderson who has four goals on the year.  As a team, Pepperdine has just nine goals on the season, however their defense has been exceptional, recording six shutouts on the year.
 
SERIES HISTORY
All-time, the Dons are 10-14-1 against the Waves in a series that dates back to Oct. 23, 1990 when the Dons defeated the Waves 3-0.  In Malibu, USF is just 2-9-1 all-time, with their last road win happening on Oct. 24, 2004.  Last year, Pepperdine defeated the Dons 1-0 at Negoesco Stadium.
 
SUNDAY'S CONTEST
On Sunday, the Dons wrap up their SoCal swing taking on the Lions at Sullivan Field. The Lions enter this week 3-6-4, 1-0-1 WCC, they will host No. 4 Santa Clara on Friday. At Sullivan Field, the Lions are 2-3 this season.  Leading the team in scoring is senior forward Sarina Bolden who has four goals on the year.  As a team, LMU has just 13 goals scored and has allowed 18.   
 
SERIES HISTORY
The Dons have lost three-straight at the hands of the Lions and are 6-16-3 overall in a series that dates back to 1993.  At Sullivan Field, the Dons are 2-8-2.
