ABOUT THE CARDINAL

Stanford (2-0) is looking to open the season 3-0 for the first time in three years. So far, the Cardinal is rolling, tying a school record for 3-point baskets in a game with 16 in a 115-71 victory over visiting Idaho on Sunday. The Cardinal had its fifth-highest point total ever and most since tying a school record with 122 against Cal State Fullerton on Dec. 10, 1994. LAST GAME VS. THE SPARTANS
Â
USF had an incredibly balanced offensive night in an 85-63 win over San Jose State on Friday with five players scoring in double figures. Leading the team with a game-high 17 points was senior guard
Shannon Powell. Powell started the night quietly, being held to four points in the first half on a 3-point field goal and a free throw. After the intermission the Dons' senior went off, connecting on a trio of 3-point field goals in the third quarter and collecting two more buckets in the fourth as the Dons coasted to the win.
