COACHES CORNER
"We have to come at USC with a lot of energy. I think the Trojans are a great program and they have a great coaching staff so we need to show that we deserve to be there right away in the match. USC is confident that it will take care of business that day so our goal is to make it as close as possible. We want to find ourselves in a tight match, but it is going to take a good start, strong focus and a lot of energy the entire way from us." — Head coach Pablo Pires de Almeida.
"I think everyone is sort of expecting us to struggle against them. Every underdog has been in this position before so I don't think it's a lot asking our guys to come out and shock USC. If the sport was played by the numbers, we would lose this match, but we have a lot of guys that could step up, play with a lot of heart and stick it to USC." — Assistant coach Matt Berry
"It's going to be a tough battle, but I think we are ready. When I was at Utah, it was tough going down to sea level, but I remember having so much respect for them when I competed against them my freshman and sophomore year. I believe we can win this." — Johan Joenhagen
USF HISTORY
The Dons head into the weekend 2-2 in the season while the Trojans are 3-1. USF has yet to take down the Trojans in a matchup since the first pairing between the two schools in the 2013 season. The Dons put up a point against the Trojans, but ultimately dropped the match 1-6. The next meeting wasn't until 2017 and the Dons had a repeat performance of a 1-6 loss.
UP NEXT
The Dons will stay on the road for a full weekend starting Saturday, Feb. 17 at the Recreation Center Court with a game against UC Santa Barbara. Following the matchup against the Gauchos, USF will travel to San Luis Obispo, Calif. to face Cal Poly on Sunday, Feb. 18 at the Mustang Tennis Complex. First serves are at 1 and 12 p.m., respectively.
